Arts Milton Board of Directors
Meet our Board of Directors…a very busy, creative group of people who volunteer their time and talents because they believe that the arts are vital and add heart to the community.
Tom Carson, President - Tom is a professional theatre director and producer, as well as a writer/performer of children's poetry. He runs Carson Academy, offering quality performing arts training for young people.
Lakshmi Venkataraman, Vice President - Lakshmi is professionally trained in Indian Classical Dance. She has also trained in vocal Indian classical music. She founded Azenarts in 2006, a visual arts company that specializes in Indian techniques called Meenakari Art and Sand Painting. As part of the Board, Lakshmi's passion for the arts can now extend to enriching the arts community in Milton.
Donna Sakuta, Treasurer - Donna is a supporter and appreciator of the arts community and is delighted with the thought of Milton's very own `Centre for the Arts`.
Grant Rushton , Secretary - Grant is a professional photographer and the owner of Front Porch Photography. In addition to being the Secretary for Arts Milton, Grant writes and photographs the Spotlight on the Arts section of our Web site. A majority of the images on the Web site are also examples of his work.
Mary Baxter - local Nia teacher, serves on the Communication stream of Arts Milton. Her business, Born to Move, is dedicated to getting people moving for fitness and self empowerment. Mary performs West African Style Dance and organizes the "Milton Dance Collective", a multicultural group of artists creating community through movement.
Auleen Carson - is Executive Producer of Carson Academy and runs her own marketing consulting company, Envision Management. Auleen works on communications for Arts Milton, and as a rural Milton resident has a special interest in connecting the arts in Milton to rural communities.
Nancy Cuttle is a professional sculptor and represents the Fine Arts Society of Milton (FASM) and the Milton Historical Society on the Arts Milton Board. As Past President of Arts Milton and a member of the steering committee for the proposed Arts & Entertainment Centre, Nancy continues to work with the Town on the planning of the Milton Centre for the Arts.
Marina Huissoon is a licensed architect & planner and LEED accredited professional who is committed to sustainable design though her firm Green Propeller Design. Marina has always maintained a serious interest in visual arts and is currently enrolled as a part-time student at OCAD (painting & drawing), and has participated in many workshops in pottery, and photography. Having lived in Milton for the past 23 years, and having raised a family here, Marina understands the dynamic shifts happening in the community.
Elizabeth Kmiec is a professional dancer, choreographer, actor, dance teacher, Pilates instructor and personal trainer. She enjoys all art forms and has found a passion in bringing them together to offer audiences a unique and bountiful arts experience. Elizabeth also has an interest in bringing art to common places all around us for everyone to enjoy more often.
Rob Mackay - Manager, Cultural Services for the Town of Milton, is an experienced Arts Administrator and serves as the General Manager of Milton Centre for the Arts.
