Spotlight - The Women of Note

Women of NoteThe Women of Note is a singing ensemble based in Milton. The group began in 1996 when its director, Laura Jeffrey, who had been teaching adult singing at the time, asked some of her students if they would like to form a group. The group has now grown to nine current members and includes sopranos Diane Young and Ms. Jeffrey; second sopranos Shirley Chester, Nicolette Parent and Karen Magee, altos Milree Latimer; Edel Klickermann and Barbara Fullum, and accompanist is Dawn Brodie. All the vocalists are accomplished choral singers.

Their repertoire covers everything from sacred music to classical, jazz, spirituals, gospel, folk music, standards from the 1940s to the 1960s and show tunes.

These styles can be heard on their newly released self-titled CD - The Women of Note.

The Women of Note perform two concerts a season, one a very popular concert for the season of Epiphany held in early January. The group is also sought after to perform for private events and fund raisers.

The official launch of their CD will be at St. Paul’s United Church in Milton on Mother’s Day at 2 pm this year.
